In the cemetery in the middle of the urban village of Langlingen stands a beautifully grown ancient oak tree. When you enter the cemetery from the main road, it adorns the entrance to the graves. The oak was nourished by a well  and is therefore constantly watered sufficiently. It is one of three trees in Langlingen that are now around 500 years old. Of these three, it is probably the youngest. Another is located at the entrance to the Mylius estate, opposite the church. The third, thickest and probably oldest oak is located at the Maschwiesen and belongs to the Mylius family estate. As the Aller regularly overflowed its banks in earlier times, the roots of the tree were regularly supplied with water.
The cemetery oak had a circumference of 5.72 meters in mid-2019. The oak by the church was slightly slimmer at 5.57 meters. At the same time, the oak at Maschgraben was 6.80 meters thick. Thanks to the excellent locations, all three oaks were able to survive the hot summers of 2018 and 2019 unscathed.
