Flying over the marsh, moor and heathland at full gallop, trotting over mossy soft soils, and riding through picturesque river meadows - this is what a ride across Lüneburg Heath can be like. A region that is perfect for riding holidays. Here you can ride not only on signposted riding trails, but in many places even cross country through forest and meadow.

In addition to the magnificent land, the infrastructure also fits in: a dense network of riding stables and horse trekking stations cover the entire region. Numerous riding halls, riding arenas, and riding schools make Lüneburg Heath a Mecca for equestrian holidaymakers. The variety of riding offers is almost limitless: those who have never ridden can learn it under expert guidance.

There are special riding courses on Lüneburg Heath for children, adults, returnees, coaches and the faint of heart. Therapeutic riding helps people with various physical, emotional, mental, and social impairments.

If you want to bring your own horse, you will find many establishments with guest boxes. If you do not own a horse, you can borrow one. There are riding stables only for children, for adults, and for the whole family. Visitors can ride from farm to farm at their own pace or explore the heathland on guided rides.

Horse lovers from all over the world come to the numerous events based around the noble four-legged friends on Lüneburg Heath.

Of particular importance are the annual Stallion Parades held in September and October at the Niedersächsischen Landgestüt (Lower Saxony State Stud) Celle. Founded as early as 1735, the stud is one of the most important breeding sites in the world. Stallions from Celle made the Hanoverians world famous.

Sporting honours with international flair are the theme of the Eventing Riders World Cup in Luhmühlen, which takes place every year in June.

Another race highlight is the Stover race on the Stover racetrack. The programme includes trotting races, horse racing, tote, and activities for children and families. In the autumn, the hunting season begins on the Heath: on the last weekend in October the Hubertus hunt (followed by a Hubertus Ball) is held in Bad Bodenteich. There is a whole week of hunting in Suhlendorf in the middle of November at the Brunnenhof Jagdreiterwoche.

In short: the variety of offers is limitless. Come for a ride on Lüneburg Heath.
