Garlstorf
Garlstorf

Garlstorf - a lively and typical
village in the North Heath - is located in Lüneburg Heath Nature Park between
the valleys of the Luhe and the Aue in Garlstorfer forest protected landscape.
The village has preserved its original character
with its thatched Lower Saxony houses to this day. As a landmark, the smock
windmill from 1865 characterizes the townscape.
Garlstorf is an ideal starting
point for long walks, on foot you can easily reach Osterheide and Garlstorf
forest. Just 5 km away is Lüneburg Heath Nature Reserve. Wide
heathland, closed forests and mysterious moors attract you not only for walking,
but also for cycling and horseback riding. Not far from Garlstorf is Lüneburg
Heath Wildlife Park - with about 120 species and over 1000 animals, it is one
of the most beautiful in Germany.
A holiday in Garlstorf is not
only interesting for nature lovers, but also for lovers of art and culture. A
lot of variety is offered by the old Roman salt city of Lüneburg, with its
brick buildings, and the city of Hamburg, with its harbour, its famous museums,
many theatres, and its fascinating architecture.
