The Samtgemeinde (joint communities) of Jesteburg (Jesteburg, Bendestorf and Harmstorf) is a gem in Lüneburg Heath Nature Park, with a special art attraction!

Due to its geographical location, Jesteburg is an ideal starting point for adventurous trips into Lüneburg Heath or exciting excursions to the metropolitan and Hanseatic city of Hamburg, which is only 25 km away.

Enjoy the peaceful tranquillity of our beautiful location. Here you can relax, stress-free and far away from the hectic big city and lack of parking.

The historical roots of Jesteburg can be traced back to the beginning of the 13th century. Despite heavy construction activity, the village character was preserved. The idyllic town centre is characterised by Niedersachsenplatz, with a group of well-preserved thatched houses (Local History Museum -1561, tithe barn with library -1756, old and new town hall) and a large number of ancient oaks. In the wooden belfry next to the classical St. Martin's Church there is the oldest operating bell in Lüneburg Heath (1190).

Jesteburg is a popular shopping destination with its well-stocked specialty shops and supermarkets. Numerous restaurants and cafés complete the picture.
