Route of the hiking loopThe long tour of the river forest adventure trail (W3) is initially the same as the short tour, but it takes the hiker much further south.
Having crossed the Sauerbruch the terrain on the side of the trail drops steeply into the Oertze valley. After Buemmbachsfeld the trail leads through the tributary valley of the Buemmbach stream.
It continues across Ahlkenmoor that
has been cultivated into pasture land and then on through Trannhoepen forest.
Finally, the hiker crosses the Oertze Bridge on the outskirts of
Baven at the jetty.
The return journey leads through the west side of the Oertze valley across
the Brunau and on through expansive forests towards Mueden (Oertze). The route follows the wild animal park through Mueden back to
the point of departure. The route of the medium tour joins the long tour at
this point.
The route can be combined in many ways with a
starting point in Baven near Hermannsburg.
The long tour is indicated by a large purple-coloured circle in addition to the
pictogram shown here.
Route profile:
Partially paved stretches (small river pathway), largely narrow pathways alongside the River Oertze, forest pathways and sandy trails.
