As an alternative to the main route, the Museum Village Hoesseringen offers an ideal starting point if you are interested in the history and culture of the region.
Follow the course of the river Hardau from Hoesseringen until it joins the river Gerdau, which subsequently confluences with the river Stederau to form the Ilmenau.
Important: the scenically appealing route via Suderburg (St. Remigius Church) and Holdenstedt (Holdenstedt Castle) includes some unadulterated forest paths and incorporates a listed cobblestone passage between Suderburg and Holxen.
