This 45 km-long-bike tour takes you around the small heath village of Wietzendorf. Along the bike path, information boards and points of interest invite you to take a few small breaks and make the tour an interesting cycling experience.

The starting point of the bike tour is the 11,000 square metre Peetshof, built in 1874. Here at Peethof three museums are housed under a large roof:

  • Local History Museum,
  • Agricultural Museum
  • Peat and Beekeeping Museum.

Here at Peetshof you get a good insight into the working and living world of our ancestors.

The Wietzendorfer Ring takes you from Wietzendorf to Meinholz. Along the bike path to Meinholz you will find information boards on the topics of wild herbs and plants, interesting facts about landscape change and the history of the small heath villages, which will be joined together on this tour.

From Meinholz it goes via Suroide towrds Dehnernbockel to Wilden Moor. Along this section of the route there are interesting experience stations that invite cycle breaks.

From Dehnerbockel it is 9 km to "Klein Amerika". From 1970, industrial ponds were created here through the industrial disposal of water, colloquially called "polders". By silting up (the natural accumulation of water and marsh plants), this area has developed into an exceptional polder landscape in which today rare bird species have their resting places and breeding grounds. From a viewing platform you have an excellent view of this polder landscape.

Tip: A pair of binoculars should definitely be in your saddlebag.

The Wietzendorfer Ring leads via Marbostel to Kiesteichen near Reiningen and then back to your starting point, Peetshof in Wietzendorf.
