is upside down, noises emanate from an erratic boulder and, on the surface of a
gigantic mirror, you find yourself between Heaven and the Earth.
The
38-kilometre-long circular cycle tour starts at Schroers-Hof in the small Heath
village of Neuenkirchen. Schroers-Hof is an old Lower Saxony farm with historic
buildings. In one of the historic buildings, Neuenkirchen Tourist Information Office
can also be found, in which you can obtain further information about the cycle tour
and about the “Art in the Landscape” project.
From
Schroers-Hof the cycle tour takes you to Sprengel via Behningen and Brochdorf. Along
the way you will discover some of the approximately 40 works of art in the "Art
in the Landscape" project. Since the 1970s, artworks by national as well as
international artists have been installed here in the natural landscape all around
Neuenkirchen. Some artworks are in harmony with nature, others were consciously
created to provide a contrast.
The
centre for the "Art in the Landscape" project, which is also known
as "Museum without Walls", is Springhornhof close to Schroers-Hof.
Here the Springhornhof Art Association puts on changing exhibitions of contemporary
painting, installations, and sculptures.
The
"Art in the Landscape" cycle tour takes you on to Neuenkirchen Schäferhof (sheep farm). On Neuenkirchen
sheep farm from May until the end of October you can experience the bringing in
of a herd of the Heidschnucke breed of moorland sheep every Tuesday and Saturday
from 17:30.
In the
sheep farm there is also a small farm shop with Heidschnucke specialities and the
Heath Information House puts on interesting exhibitions. The farm shop is open during
the bringing in of the sheep from 17:00.
