If you choose this route, you can look forward to being led through a variety of forest types. The route takes you through spruce and pine forests. Even deciduous forests – in places with old, gnarled tree shapes – can be seen.
Again and again, the landscape opens up for a view over fields or meadow valleys, and of course there are the open heathlands.
Particularly spectacular views can be had at the top of the Totengrundes, worth a detour uphill to two vantage points on Holzberg. The way back leads past Sellhorn forest office and through beautiful beech forests back to Volkwardingen.
