It is hard to believe when you wander through valley of the Haverbeeke, which is still lush green even in the driest summer, that here in 1996 a large heath fire raged. But the charred tree trunks standing on the slopes of Surhorn and Wümmeberg are a reminder of the destructive power of the fire.
Gaze out across the expanse of heathland from the two beautiful viewpoints which you will encounter on this walk.
