Bispingen bird of prey enclosure

The Bispingen bird of prey enclosure is located on the B 209, between 700-year-old Amelinghausen and idyllic Bispingen, surrounded by forest and heathland. The bird of prey enclosure has been open to visitors for more than 20 years. Experience how Ms. Steinmann-Laage brings you closer to the world of birds in her inimitable way, with charm and wit.

It all began in Hamburg.

Dr. Ernst A. Laage, a well-known zoologist and scientist as well as lecturer at the Institute for Teacher Training, founded a "teaching facility for native diurnal birds of prey and owls" in the 1950s. He made it available to lecturers, teachers and pupils. His daughter Frigga, his erudite pupil and later assistant, could not be imagined away from her father's side and the animals even as a 3-year-old. After her father's death in 1975, she took over around 30 eagles, falcons, hawks, buzzards and owls to continue her father's life's work.

Together with her husband Walter Steinmann, a foreign trade merchant, hunter and falconer, she founded the Bispingen bird of prey enclosure in 1978.
