Picturesque Moisburg is located northwest of Lüneburg Heath Nature Park on the Este (Karte) in a scenic location.

The community of Moisburg include the villages of Moisburg, Appelbeck and Podendorf, as well as the farmstead Ruhmannshof.

  • A popular place to visit in Moisburg is the watermill on the Este (Mühlenmuseum), documented in records from around 1379. Here the delicious Moisburger Amtsmühlenbrot is highly recommended.
  • The church was built around 1200. You can marvel at art treasures of supra-regional importance and rich paintings of the period from 1640 onwards.
  • Another monument is the 1983 restored Amtshaus, which is first mentioned in documents in 1322.

For those seeking relaxation, Moisburg offers many opportunities with its lake, river, and forest landscape. 3 km southeast of Moisburg is Appelbecker lake with the surrounding pond system, where you can relax on land or water (pedal boating).

For food, the lakeside Restaurant & Café is recommended. Carp are freshly prepared from the ponds near the house, as well as Galloway cattle and fallow deer from their own humane farming.

The fallow deer are right next to the building. It is therefore possible to see the humane farming methods. Children can enjoy watching and touching the animals.

For those who like it more active, the Este between Moisburg and Hollenstedt can be explored by canoe. The Este is a diverse and sparkling semi-natural river.
