Langlingen: Museum of the village

Langlingen

THE LANGLINGEN VILLAGE MUSEUM about 20 km southeast of Celle, is a local history museum - but much, much more! but much, much more! On the action days, history becomes close enough to touch: experience a washing day from the old days or watch the farmers' wives churning butter in a barrel. The actors will show you how fabrics and textiles were made back then, they will show you how to thresh grain with a flail and perhaps even reveal long-forgotten secrets from the herb garden. Young and old technology fans alike will be amazed when a Lanz Bulldog is started up. Be there when a horseshoe is forged. "What does a wheelwright actually do?" About 20 km southeast of Celle, is a local history museum -
but much, much more!

In 1989, a private association initiated the establishment of a museum on the former Grethenhof in Langlingen, not far from the St. Johanniskirche church built in the 14th century.

A lot has happened in the meantime around the granary built in 1722! The exhibits show life in the house and courtyard of earlier times.

Extensive collections of pictures and documents provide information on the development of village life. The basic idea of the museum concept is "the living museum". Visitors are invited on a journey through time and experience village life and work "live" and up close.

On the action days, history becomes close enough to touch: experience a washing day from the old days or watch the farmers' wives churning butter in their barrels. The actors will show you how fabrics were made and textiles made in those days, show you how to thresh corn with flails and perhaps tell you long forgotten secrets from the herb garden. Both big and small technology fans will be amazed when a Lanz Bulldog is launched. Be there when a horseshoe is forged. "What does a cartwright actually do?"

The museum is run by the "Förderkreis Dorfmuseum Langlingen". Admission to the museum is free of charge. But think about it! The maintenance of the buildings and equipment is expensive and time-consuming. Donations are therefore very welcome!

So come and visit us sometime. See you - in the village museum Langlingen.
