Hanstedt – welcome to your vacation!

Hilly heathlands, a picturesque church in the centre of the village, small shops that invite you to take a leisurely stroll, interesting excursion destinations in the surrounding area - if you come to Hanstedt in the northern Lüneburg Heath, you have arrived at an ideal destination that has something to offer for everyone.

Our idyllic heath village is the central shopping destination for "Heidjer" (the regions locals) and many holiday guests in Lüneburg Heath. The wide range of cultural activities on offer is just as much appreciated as the nearby heath landscape "Auf dem Töps".

Here you can enjoy nature by bike, on a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride, on a horseback, by foot, or on one of our numerous and first-class marked Nordic walking trails. Our heath areas with bee colonies, herds of Heidschnucken (the local sheep species and their sheppards) and stables offer the perfect backdrop for those who seek relaxation and want to collect fascinating memories.

Enjoy swimming in the nearby forest pool, take a short walk along our tree avenue or learn something new on the forest and culture trail with the "witches' dance floor" - Hanstedt has rightly earned the name "Pearl of the North Heath", and that not only during the heather blossoms in late summer.

Hanstedt offers its residents and guests a diverse entertainment and leisure programme with concerts, art and theatre events, lectures and regular festivals (carneval, Easter bonfire, Schützenfest, Heather Dragon Festival, autumn and Christmas markets).

How to get there:

Hanstedt in the northern heath, Townhall, Rathausstraße 1, 21271 Hanstedt, Germany

Via the A7 motorway from Hamburg and Hanover you can reach Hanstedt via the Garlstorf exit (7 kilometres).

During the summer months (15.7.-15.10.) you can use the free Heath-Shuttle (Heideshuttle) for transfers within the Heide, also with your bike.
