Enjoy a unique view over Lüneburg and the surrounding area from the viewing platform at a height of 56 meters. Inside the water tower, you can learn more about the 17 sustainability goals of the 2030 Agenda with a focus on water and education.
This "Wasserturm" (water tower) was shut down and placed under heritage protection in 1985. Its old water equipment was scrapped, leaving only the water tank preserved. From a 56-metre height on the tower's viewing terrace, visitors have an unparalleled view of Lüneburg and its surrounds. In clear conditions, you can see as far as 40 km into the distance. All year round there are events held on the Wasserturm's six levels, including readings and concerts for young and old, while visitors can see temporary exhibitions. Pupils from a neighbouring school also offer guided tours through the building.
