HEIDE-EXPRESS - the heritage railway

Travel on historical trains from the 1950s from the salt city Lueneburg to the river Elbe and through the Lueneburg Heath. Enjoy a nostalgic stroll on rails with the HEIDE-EXPRESS past meadows, forests and idyllic towns.

The Advent season is marked by our popular Father Christmas trips! Just in time for the Advent weekends, our hard-working helpers decorate the historic carriages of our museum train.

When it finally gets underway, our passengers can expect a very special experience on the festively decorated train. On the way, St. Nicholas and his helpers board the train and visit all the children at their seats. Of course, there will also be a small gift.

Our gastronomic service will provide the passengers with drinks, mulled wine and sausages. And outside, the (hopefully) wintery snow-covered landscape passes by.

You can choose between 3 departure stations:

• From Lüneburg we start in the direction of Bleckede
• From Winsen (Luhe) we go in the direction of Niedermarschacht
• From Soltau we drive in the direction of Bispingen and Hützel

But that's not all, because we also offer the Christmas Eve rides between Lüneburg and Boltersen.

And because the cold season in the north is also always green cabbage time, we offer a Kohlfahrt with our train from Lüneburg on two Sundays in January. On the way there is a stop in Neetze and once there we will set up a delicious kale buffet for you in our comfortable samba car "1990". Various drinks will be available at reasonable prices throughout the journey.
